Title: Favorite song?

Pretty self explanatory.  I love all of Lisa's songs.  She is an incredible musician with the voice of an angel.  Each person is allowed up to three choices.  I hope that's enough ;) ;D

I decided to vote for Send Me a Song.  It was my first Lisa favorite.  :)

This is harrrrrrrrd. I voted for three...LOL. "The Voice," of course, because well, it's just CLASSIC LISA and it's also my favorite Celtic Woman song.

But I also voted for "Caledonia" and "Send Me a Song." I'll never stop associating "Caledonia" with Lisa. It was one of the first CW songs I heard (beyond the Christmas songs, lol) and it's just "Lisa" to me. :)

Same here. It's hard not to love what Lisa sings. She's an incredible performer. I'll never forget when I first saw CW on PBS...I immediately locked onto Lisa. She was the one that drew me in first.

I chose Caledonia, The Voice, and Now We Are Free. That was very hard cuz I love all of her songs.

For me no question it was "Send me a song". It was that song that I heard one night that sparked the first poem/lyric in me. April 15th at 0325. Over 200 have since followed. I'll never forget that song or Lisa for the beauty brought to me and the inspirations that have flowed from it all. God bless you Lisa.

Hope the inspiration keeps coming.  Lisa and her music have made such a huge impact on so many.  I continue to be amazed every time I hear her sing.  I love everything that she does.  I chose The Soft Goodbye, The Blessing, and SMAS but it was a very difficult choice.

I believe you all will agree with me, Lisa just cannot sing a bad song. The favorites just seem to keep changing ever time I hear her sing a song. This one is my favorite, no this one is, then you hear another one and it becomes my favorite.

leigham, those three songs would be my top three. Send Me A Song is just so beautifu, The Soft Goodbye brings tears to my eyes as does The Blessing. They are all so overwhelming.

There is no other singer that can convey so much meaning into every song, as Lisa can.

You're both right on. Lisa simply cannot do any song poorly. She could sing the phone book with passion and either make you smile or cry.

Yup...  no easy task here.  I love everything Lisa sings!  For me "The Voice" is Lisa's signature song.  Sensitive, heart-felt, upbeat, and POWERFUL.  Who could ask for anything more?!

I've listened to it hundreds of times (I think?) and everytime Lisa hits that last note, I STILL get a chill up my spine.  ;D

What better a reason to make my first post!
It is difficult to have a favorite for sure. But "The Voice" really demonstrates Lisa's incredible abilty to "power up" her voice. She can just get SO much out of it when she wants. I see it in smaller amounts in songs like "moon is a harsh mistress" in the lines "I fell and I fell alone", but in the voice it is just that amazing crescendo to the end that astounds me time after time.

The Voice is my favorite WOW but it was May It Be ;D and Send Me a Song ;D that were the ones that Lisa brought me to LOVING her voice and then to Loving Celtic Woman and then to going to the Celtic woman Concerts and buying all the CD's and DVD's of all the Celtic Woman (CW) But after buying her lone CD I fell in love with The River dance Song Home and the Heartland. I looked for her DVD for a long time until I heard she did not ever complete it.  ;D

Title: Re: Favorite song?
Post by: moscapoet on May 11, 2010, 11:58:30 AM
Whatever she sings becomes a signature piece for her in some way. I can also say that for the others up there with her too. Yes, I think all of us were disappointed that the DVD never came out. All of these artists are so busy that it look very unlikely any will ever get another CD let alone a DVD produced while they are with CW. But at least they know we'll eagerly snap them up when it happens and that will help them in their solo careers.

Title: Re: Favorite song?
Post by: wareagle on May 11, 2010, 01:26:54 PM
I think you are correct but do we want Lisa Chloe Mairead to leave so we can have solo CD's and DVDs A couple more years would be great fit the CW group to stay as it is. I think Lisa may be tied to the group more than the rest because of Scott; Disney may corner Mairead; but Chloe could go, but she is still young enough not to jump ship too soon.  Orla and Meav probable pick good times to leave. As for Alex, she seem very happy with the CW; Lynn has been a lead singer with riverdance but the CW is really getting her name out there now. PS i wonder if the CW has thought about some of the College venues for tours??? ;D

Title: Re: Favorite song?
Post by: moscapoet on May 11, 2010, 04:09:10 PM
In some cases CW is performing at college venues. For example, in Phoenix they just performed at Gammage Auditorium which is on ASU campus in Tempe. They have performed at State College in PA at the venue on PSU campus. Last fall and again this September they will perform at Popejoy Hall on UNM campus in Albuquerque. These are just a few, so if you like that idea they just may do that in your area.  ;)

I did not know this. In reading reviews I did not pick this up. I know that Taylor Swift had made a surprise visit to (MY) Auburn University very recently(see on U-tube). She was received very well. I think the CW would find the southern large college campuses very appealing. I may email Auburn and suggest this to them. I know the young teens are following the girls but the 18 to 24 age group found on college campuses may be missing. This would surly help CD sells if we could get more of this age to become CW fans. Do you have any statistics as to what age groups our CW is attracting. ;D

Since most PBS stations are affiliated with universities that does help get them to campus venues. Hahaha, age groups are from little ones to seniors. When you look at a CW audience and even in the forums we have teenagers up to folks in their 80's. I will say though that college aged females do tend to like them a lot.

That is true, because my grandparents are almost 80 both, and I showed them the DVD's, and they said: hey! Are they coming to Holland? Because if so, we want to go to a concert! First I was stunned.. But later I thought: wow... giggle... that is cool.... who would have ever thought..... And now I can go with them when they will come to Holland to escort them. Then I have my drivers licence already, so... :D

I love all of Lisa's songs. Each one is so special. I will say that "The Blessing" has special meaning for me.  Two years ago my youngest daughter was graduating from The Ohio State University and I wanted to do a video history of her life. I gathered up all of her pictures and started thinking about what themes I wanted to use. I bought a software package that would allow me to put all of the pictures and music into motion. Her life was divided into 5 or 6 sections. My next challenge was to find music for each section. She loves Dave Matthews Band, so I new I would need to use at least one of his songs. She also likes Rascal Flatts, so I found a perfect song from them. I was driving to work one day and of course I was listening to CW. "The Blessing" came on. I immediately started crying. I knew I had to use it on Katie's video. I added it to the "Family" section. It was perfect. The whole video was about 20 minutes. I also wanted to use David Agnew's "Gabriel's Oboe." My other daughter said it was more suited for a funeral. So I didn't use it. I still love that song though. So, to stay on topic, "The Blessing" is certainly one of my favorites from Lisa.

Thats a great story Barb.. I think that your comment that when "the blessing " came on you started to crying, is so much the CW mystery I have been trying to solve for months. They have such an effect on people. Not a sad song, but  just brings you to tears like so many others.
I feel they have a capicity much like an emotional amplifier. I  know if I feel great on a given day and listen to The Blessing for instance I sing along and get even happier. but on another  day if i'm a little down or even just not either way I mite  listen to that same song and be grabbing for the tissues.
tuff to explain the power of CW
I'll bet she loved it eh?

Barb,

Your story about what you did for your daughter is so touching; and I am sure she appreciated what you did for her for her graduation. What you did was very thoughtful and took a lot of time and imagination and choices. You made some wonderful choices in the songs you selected, and choices she is so happy to share with her friends, and she will cherish this gift for a lifetime. “The Blessing” was such an excellent choice for the beauty of the message it conveys and it being sang by Lisa is the best it can ever be song.

“The Blessing” holds special meaning to so many of us and I have told Lisa that when she sings this song I can imagine she is singing it to her children. I love this song as I too can relate it to my children.

Now may I relate a story about this song as told to me by my friend Don that usually attends all the Celtic Woman Shows with me? I had not yet met Don but I had found he had an extra ticket with Meet and Greet passes to the Celtic Woman Show in Nashville in March of 2007 and we had begin communicating by e-mail and making arrangements to get together to meet, and really just getting acquainted with each other. Then Don told me about this song, which I had never heard of, and about his wife who had died a few years earlier and how he wished his wife had lived to have heard Lisa sing this song so his wife would have known how much he loved her. I tell you when I read that it somehow struck my heart and the tears started flowing, as they are now when I am writing this, and since then every time when I try and tell about this I choke up and cannot continue the story. I have tried once to tell Don about this and again the same thing happened in trying to tell him about it. Needless to say I have attempted to tell this only a few times and then only to special understanding people. I do not know why his telling me that affects me that way, and it still does. Maybe it is something unknown to me; but maybe in hidden memories that causes this involuntary action that takes hold and causes me to do this. I wish I knew. Now you know more about me than you probably should.

Jim

An emotional amplifier, Dave? That is a good term. I don't know exactly what it is but these artists and their music touch so deeply like no other. I get the feeling they are ancient souls that are here for a reason. Those who are receptive to their ways of communicating, which are not always obvious to many, are really blessed. So many people have such moving stories about how Lisa and/or the others have made a positive impact in their lives. Barb, yours is one of many and thanks for sharing it.

After I bought the "Helix" cd in November of 2006, I listened to it continually - it was hauntingly beautiful to me, like something paranormal. It is just perfect for her voice. It's also in my range, and my kids really "love" it (NOT!!!) when I sing it around home.

I need to change my original choice.  I just listened to Lisa's amazing a capella performance of Hush Little Baby on the new Lullaby CD and it brought back a flood of childhood memories.  Even though it's not in the list to choose from, it is now my absolute favorite Lisa song; totally eclipsing The Voice.

It is actually very difficult to post an absolute favorite and even hard to narrow it down to three.  Sometimes my list changes a little as my mood swings a bit. Wow - this is a tough one.    We have Lisa's CD and just love it.  To pick one is next to impossible.  For me, I chose The Voice as this shows Lisa's wide vocal range.   I think I have a new favorite in "You'll Be In My Heart" - I an easily listen to that song over and over.  Quite often I find myself soing just that.   Would love for Lisa to put out another solo CD.   Just a fantasticly talented lady and I'm glad she is able to share that gift.

It would be wonderful if Lisa and the others did follow up CDs, and for Lisa Lambe to do one as well. So far none of them have done one since signing on with CW. They are kept very busy and doing a CD is a very time consuming process.

If I have to choose 3, it would be #1  May it be-  the first song, that I ever heard Lisa sing.
#2  Lift the wings- very up lifting
                                                     #3  Home and the Heartland

Ah heck!   and every other song that Lisa sings.  lol   She is "The Voice",  no doubt about it! :D

First of all "The Blessing" she put so much heart on it and the song is just beautiful.
Then I choose "Lift the wings" this brings Lisa in a sort of "magic" atmosphere I can't really explain.
Last (but not least! xD) I choose "The voice" the first song I heard from her. Such a powerful soul within!
I know I can only choose 3 but I'd like to nominee "Caledonia" "Send me a song" and "Christmas everywhere" top 4\5\6 ;)

It  was  tough  to  narrow  it  down, but I went  with "The Voice" ,  "May It Be"  and  "Dubhdarra" .    :)

I had to go with Send Me A Song as that is the one that began my own musical and poetic inspirations.
